We’re Raising! GTF’s Red Bean Pepperoni Hits Vevolution
…And our artisanal red bean pepperoni is ready to meet the world.
We’ve officially joined Vevolution — a global platform connecting mission-forward food startups with values-aligned investors, advisors, and fellow innovators (hi!).
For us at Garden Truck Foods, this isn’t just about raising funds. It’s about finding our people — the ones who understand that the future of food isn’t about flashy gimmicks or endless imitations. It’s about reimagining the classics through smarter ingredients, better processes, and a deep commitment to taste, sustainability, and impact.
And in our case? That means rethinking pepperoni.
From One Chef’s Vision to a Category-Defying Product
Our artisanal red bean pepperoni was developed by Chef Gail Patak, an incredibly talented plant-based chef and product developer, with roots in fine dining, catering, and community kitchens. Gail spent years tinkering with the formula of GTF’s pepperoni — not to mimic traditional meat, but to create something entirely new: a spicy, smoky, satisfying plant-based pepperoni that just happens to be made from pinto beans.
The result is a clean-label, bold-flavored pepperoni that stands on its own — whether crisped on pizza, layered into sandwiches, or served straight from the charcuterie board.
Why Vevolution, Though?
Vevolution isn’t just another startup hub, either. It’s a curated space for plant-positive innovation. They’ve had startups such as Oatrageous, Impact Food, and Trupo Treats all raise on the platform, so we’re in pretty good company.
The platform brings together a growing network of investors, founders, and changemakers, who care deeply about building the next wave of sustainable food systems.
That mission aligns perfectly with our own. We’re not trying to “hack” meat. We’re here to rebuild food from the bean up — to offer delicious, nutrient-dense, and animal-free alternatives that are as satisfying as they are sensible.
We’re grateful to join a platform like Vevolution that values transparency, impact, and community as much as we do.
Why We’re Raising
After years of product development (and let’s be honest, a lot of bean-fueled taste tests!), we’re ready to scale. Our artisanal red bean pepperoni is already being sampled by chefs, retailers, and plant-based enthusiasts across the country — and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
With the support of Vevolution and its investor community, we’re focused on:
A classic Italian dish — lasagna — crafted with Garden Truck Foods’ Artisanal Red Bean Pepperoni.
Expanding our production capacity
Building out our foodservice and retail partnerships
Elevating our brand through thoughtful marketing
And getting this smarter pepperoni into more hands, kitchens, and crusts
This isn’t about flooding shelves with another alt-protein product. It’s about growing carefully, partnering wisely, and staying true to the flavor-first, bean-forward approach that brought us here.
Why It Matters
🌍 For the planet: Beans are one of the most sustainable protein sources on the planet — low-impact, water-efficient, and nitrogen-fixing superheroes.
💪 For your body: Our pepperoni offers 11g of protein, 0g saturated fat, and real fiber — with a short ingredient list and no mystery additives.
🐄 For animals: No factory farms. No exploitation. Just flavor-forward food that keeps your conscience clear.
In short, we’re not just making better pepperoni. We’re helping build a better food system — one slice, sandwich, and snack board at a time.
